Snoodles

My thighs are aching! I've been working out 5 days/week at the gym. I'm trying to lose this stubborn weight that I've had since having my daughter almost 2 years ago!!!(when I say stubborn, I'm referring to myself being in denial for 2 years) I had my schedule down: SET Mon/Weds/Fri, Kickbox Tues, and Zumba Thurs. But then I tried Cycle class the other day. OH...MY...SORENESS!!!! It was a great workout and be going back. I was able to work out the next day but today...ay ay ay...don't think my muscles can take it today.

that's just one area of hurt.

My stomach hurts. We are going through escrow right now and I can't believe how my nerves are getting to me.

The thought of buying a house is exciting and adventurous but it's also so SCARY!
We are taking on a huge project in this house. Not only the painting and new carpet needed to move in but the other cosmetic stuff in each room (baseboard, casing, window treatments). Plus the demo of the garage, and new living space we will create...all while living in the house with our 3 little ones. It sounds all good and fun but do you know how hard it is to get my dishes done sometimes?

I find myself getting annoyed with myself for grumbling about this. I should be positive and have a good attitude toward this. After all, we are in a position to buy a house...not everyone is.

My heart is also hurting. Hurting for friends, family, our nation, our world. Doesn't it just feel so out of control sometimes? And me, being the micro-manager I am...I want to fix it! I want to give my two cents but sometimes it's not even worth it. It's falling on deaf ears or like talking to a wall.

Maybe that's why I'm having this little vent session.

I don't really have a point to this, or and end to all this whining. I don't have a solution or advice. I just feel frustrated and pretty insignificant in the big scheme of things.

Then I remember...I am a CHILD OF GOD! My Jesus loves me. He loves me when I'm doing good, and life is full of joy and fun. He loves me when I'm down and life seems to be throwing obstacles right at my face. God has been so faithful to me and my family. I have experienced his mercies and still beg for them every day!

Even when I mess up and make a choice that wasn't the best I know He sees my intentions. I know He sees my heart.

Last night I was kind of feeling 'blah" when my 4 yr old son Job asked if he could watch a video. He picked out Veggie Tales "God loves me" DVD. It had several little silly stories and I wasn't really listening while doing dishes and cleaning up from dinner. We paused it to give baths, then after baths we pushed play. The last story was about the snoodles. These little people with wings that had been created. There was this tall tower in the sky shaped like a swirly slide at the park, nobody knew who had made it or how it was built. They would just plop down the slide every day as a new little being. They had a pack of paints on their backs to use, like little artists.
This certain snoodle was smaller then the others. He couldn't fly and everyone thought his paintings were silly. They would paint pictures of what they thought he looked like and put him in his pack. The pack was so weighed down that he could hardly walk. Finally, he decided to get away and be alone. He climbed to this tall mountain where only the birds lived. It was so quiet he only heard his thoughts, but then he heard a voice he didn't recognize. It was his creator. He told him how the other snoodles made fun of him and told him that he wasn't as good as they were. He showed him the pictures they had painted, and how they weighed so much.
Then finally the voice, who he now saw, said "this is how I see you" and he unveiled a canvas. It was of a big, strong snoodle with big wings and big paintbrush. He told him how he had created him, that he had given him his paints as a gift to paint how he saw the world. When the little snoodle showed his creator a painting of his, his creator was so happy that he put it on his fridge ;)

When the snoodle asked why the others were so mean his creator just explained that some people choose to use their paints for harm and not good. The snoodle asked why he couldn't just make them obey and be nice? He replied "a gift is not a gift if it's demanded". He told the snoodle that his wings were not just to fly, but to soar through the sky.

The snoodle turned, leaped off the cliff and began to fly through the clouds with such confidence. He had found what he was looking for on that mountain top. his questions and concerns were answered. He now knew he was a special snoodle, created for a purpose, created to use his gifts.

He immediately went back down to the snoodles, showed them how he could fly and then painted pictures for them.
At this point in the video I was crying like baby on my couch.

This little story, intended for my kids to re-assure them of Larry the cucumber and Bob the tomatoes favorite phrase" GOD MADE YOU SPECIAL, and he LOVES you very much" had actually spoke to me.

In those moments when I feel insignificant and little I will remember that little snoodle.
He left his world of snoodle, went away to search, and after spending time with his creator, was educated, refreshed, re-assured, and blessed. Nobody will fill the voids that I have. All the conversations in the world with my husband or closest friends will fill me the way Jesus will.
I need more of that mountain top time with my Jesus.

If you made it through that one....thank you!

Virtuous cleaning

has taken a turn for reality cleaning. Since having Maggie my 31 days of cleaning fun have changed to 5 days of "lets getter done!"
this is what it looks like:

Monday-kitchen, laundry, vacuum,
Tuesday-bathroom, laundry, vacuum
Wednesday- boys room, laundry vacuum
Thurday- our bedroom, laundry, vacuum
Friday-living room, laundry, vacuum
weekend-clean out my car

I'll try to do extra projects if I find the time. Like organizing a closet or minimizing "stuff".

This is what I am capable of right now, I am satisfied and I hope the Lord is pleased with my honesty!

Finally!!!!!!!!!!

After 3 years of talking and praying about it we are finally hosting a Family Home Fellowship at our house. There are 5 couples coming , all with children and we are meeting on Saturdays in the afternoon. This time works best for our families and allows us to work around most of the kids schedules.

It has been amazing! The Fellowship, the discussions, the fun times watching our kids play, it is such a Joy that the Lord has brought us all together.

It is going to be amazing to see our kids grow together as well as for us to learn from eachother.

We are still trying to work out some kinks but in time I know we will be doing great! Kinks are to be expected when kids are involved.

I know we are making some life long friendships and that The Lord has big things planned for us!

group pic to come...you try to wrangle 11 kids :)

Virtuous Cleaning

Day 4
Sorry for the big huge gap in posts, but to actually clean, take pictures and do the studies was so time consuming I didn't have time to blog about it! :)

Today, go for the kitchen!!!

Here's my BEFORE kitchen pics:

And after's

This included:
wiping the cupboards, walls, countertops, stove tops, appliances, floors, dishes, clutter(most of it), chairs and booster seats, and windows. Honestly, it could have been much better but this day was a crazy No-napping day!

I still have to tackle this tommorrow. This is what is under the hutch...Gross!!!!!

I have no idea what's under there, I just took a picture without looking. wish me luck!

As far as cleaning tips:
--always clean from top to bottom (esp. when dusting). Feather dusters with poles can be purchased at the Dollar store and are a good investment. Make sure to shake them out from time to time.
--a solution of Hydrogen Peroxide and water (at equal parts) will clean and disinfect just about anything, including glass/windows, and it is non-toxic so it's especially great to use in a house with small children and pregnant women. Baking soda is also good to use as a non-toxic cleaning agent.
--When using non-toxic brand-name cleaning products, make sure to use something that will actually kill germs (a lysol wipe or hydrogen peroxide) on areas such as toilet seats, sink handles, etc.
--DO NOT use a trash can in the kitchen with a lid on it unless the lid can open without the use of your hands. Trash can lids are a breeding ground for germs, and those germs easily spread to meals that are being prepared. Second most popular place for germs to hang out in the kitchen is the refridgerator door handle. Don't forget to sanitize it often!
--Other places that need to be sanitized often: Door handles, cabinet handles, sink faucett handles and toilet handles, as well as the telephone. Esp. after sickness has passed thru your home.
--After cleaning, make sure to wash brushes, sponges, cloths, etc. in hot water with, at the very least, soap, or a small solution of bleach.
--vaccuming carpets daily keeps them in top condition and allows them to wear longer. If there is a lot of carpet in the house, try to vacuum at least every other or every third day.
--A vacuum with a HEPA filter is great to use so that dust and allergens do not get stirred up and rest on the furniture that was just dusted. And, of course, it's good for the health of the family as well. But make sure to empty the resivour outside. Same with using a terry-cloth mop on wood/linoleum floors rather than a broom. If a broom is needed, use small sweeping motions and sweep in several small areas rather than pushing dirt from one end of a room to another.

And more specifially about organizing Lid racks

Tip 3 utensil organization

TIP 4 THE CUPBOARDS

Also, pick a cupboard to clean out and organize. If you don't get to it today then do it tomorrow. Here's my baking cupboard, which has turned in to the cupboard I throw "whatever" into, chaos!

I'll post my after picture tomorrow and my new Bible study tips by Ruth Graham Lotz!

Virtuous Cleaning

Day 3 of Virtuous Cleaning Series

So thee are two versus that I want to mention only because they are repeated in my house almost on a daily basis:
Prov 3:5-6
and 3:12

This verse and small Devo by Angela Hunt is more on the topic I had hoped to touch on.
Prov 3:7-8
"Do not be wise in your own eyes;fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones."

"Years before science linked healthy bodies and healthy minds, Solomon wrote that humility, reverence, and righteous living would result in physical health. the grocery store new stand abound with magazines to promote a healthy lifestyle but how many of those consider a person's spiritual well-being?
Feeling stressed? Cast you cares upon the One who cares for you (1Pet 5:7)
Exhausted? Run to the One hose Yoke is easy and whose burden is light (Matt 11:30).
Worried? Place your concerns in Jesus' hands and trust Him to meet your needs.(Matt 6:25-26)" Center you life on the will of God, and you'll soon realize that the trouble with most people is not that they are run down, but that they are all wound up!"

Are you wound up with things in your house? Let's help out with that by cleaning some more!
Today, work on the kitchen. Start from the top and work your way down. Wipe down the the cabinets, walls, counter tops, appliances, tables, chairs, windows, any hanging pictures or knick knacks, and finally the floors. For now, to take "before" pictures! We will get to what you didn't finish and much more in the next couple days.

Virtuous Cleaning

Day 2 of Virtuous Cleaning series
Proverbs 2:1-5
"My Son, if you RECEIVE my words, And TREASURE my commands within you, so that you INCLINE your ear to wisdom, and APPLY your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you CRY OUT for discernment, and LIFT UP your voice for understanding, if you SEEK her as silver, and SEARCH for her as hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God." (emphasis mine)

These word of action God gives us are very clear, but do we wholeheartedly do this: Receive, treasure, apply, cry out, and search for knowledge? I put a lot of effort into many things, but I am not always as passionate about my desire for the Lord to show me wisdom, I need to be.

V10 "When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; ..."

Day 2 CHALLENGE:the silverware drawer! If this is not a messy drawer for you, then go for the junk drawer. Mine were kind of combined!

wow!

I try to do little projects at a time. I have so much going on in my day this is about all I can get done during naps. With three little ones under three years old I can't exactly dump out a drawer when they are awake...can you imagine?

Virtuous cleaning

Day 1 of Virtuous Cleaning Series
It has been said that if you want to be a Proverbs 31 Woman, the best thing to do is to read and apply the first 30 chapters of the book to your life.

Proverbs Ch 1 The beginning of Knowledge
I encourage you to read the whole chapter but I will touch on the verse/verses that spoke to me.
"1:7 The fear of the Lord is the BEGINNING of knowledge. But fools despise wisdom and instruction."
The fear of the Lord...I remember hearing this as a child. I didn't really understand it till I re-dedicated my life to Jesus. It is not a fear as in being afraid, as if he will strike you down when you do something wrong, or as if he is just waiting to smack you down when you make a mistake. It's like a great respect and admiration. I think of it as he is our greatest instructor and teacher. For us to ignore his teaching would be foolish, for us to not want to learn from him and to see what he has in store for us would be simply stupid. I do not need to understand everything about God and his ways, but the things he wants me to learn and know...I can't wait to let him teach me!

It goes on to say that wisdom call us (V20) and that those who choose to ignore that call will have consequences (V28).
I pray to that I have a listening ear to this call of wisdom. I am constantly asking for his guidance with my Husband, children and my daily decisions. That I would hear him speak CLEARLY to me and respond the way he wishes.
For this, I need to be in his word DAILY!!!! If not, I am not walking with him and I am not available for him to show me anything.
I hope that you are in his word and have a listening ear to hear his voice.

CHALLENGE:
OK, so Day One of cleaning...let's start with THE CAR!!!!! You thought it would be in the house didn't you?

Here's me pictures!!!! This is after about 2 weeks! Geez!
Yikes!!! I usually have 3 car seats in here, but after pulling them out to vacuum I had to wash the seats to remove whatever sticky stuff was on and under them, gross!

Nice!

And this nice little back of the seat organizer for diapers, books etc. I got this from Target.

Here's a cool little trash bag for the back of your seat for gum wrappers, paper, used tissue, receipts, whatever else. They sell them at Target, I got mine from this GO Westy's site.

Happy Cleaning, don't forget to take Before pictures!!
When you comment I'll go to your blog to see you before and afters.
